About Me

I’m a Professor of Political Science at Western Kentucky University and Director of the International Public Opinion Lab (IPOL). I received my Ph.D. from Indiana University in 2012. My primary research focus is the domestic and international politics of East Asia, with broader interests in public opinion and electoral politics in the US, Latin America, and Africa. I have published over 70 peer-reviewed publications and frequently collaborate with undergraduate students and alumni on peer-reviewed and other publications. I was the 2016 Potter College (PCAL) and University Faculty Award recipient for Research and Creativity and the 2021 PCAL Award recipient for Advising.

My Google Scholar profile is here, and my Twitter profile is here.

About My Dog

Ruby is a beagle mix adopted from Farmington, Missouri. She frequents campus, requesting treats and belly rubs. She once destroyed a toy in under five minutes. She knows how to sit, beg, shake, and lay down. Rumor has it she is being trained to bark at economists and administrators.

Her Instagram is @rubysodoggo.

Ruby has also been the subject of ground-breaking experimental survey research, as seen here.
